The Hoosier Story
From a horse barn in Indiana to the world’s biggest race tire brand.
1957
The Beginning
Bob and Joyce Newton founded Hoosier Racing Tire in an abandoned horse barn in South Bend, Indiana. They started by re-treading street tires with softer rubber compounds and selling them to local racers.
1989
Daytona 500 Victory
After entering NASCAR’s Winston Cup Series, Hoosier achieved a landmark victory at the Daytona 500 — proving a small Indiana tire maker could compete with the giants of the industry.
2013
Hoosier South Africa
Oscar Sutton launched Hoosier South Africa as the official distributor, bringing championship-winning rubber to Southern African racers. Over a decade of connecting local motorsport with the world’s best tires.
2016
Continental AG Acquisition
